Stolen Data Allegedly Includes Future Products and Customer Databases

According to available information, the hackers stole data belonging to the company and attempted to sell it. AMD issued a statement saying, “We are aware of a cybercriminal organization claiming to have stolen AMD data. We are investigating the claim with law enforcement and a third-party partner to understand the significance of the purportedly stolen data.”

While AMD has not officially disclosed what the stolen data includes or its extent, IntelBroker claims it contains future product plans, employee data, and customer databases.

Previous Incidents and Data Breaches

This incident is not the first time AMD has faced a significant data breach. A few years ago, the company experienced another attack where 450 GB of data was stolen. During that attack, hackers exploited weak passwords to gain access to critical information, including passwords, network details, and highly confidential chip designs for future projects like Zen 5 and CDNA 4.

RansomHouse, a group known for obtaining stolen data and offering it back to companies for a ransom, claimed responsibility for the previous breach, stating they had the 450 GB of data and accessed AMD’s systems without using specialized ransomware.

AMD’s Response and Future Steps

AMD is again dealing with a major cyber attack. Whether the data was indeed stolen and how AMD will address this issue remains to be seen. The company has stated that it is collaborating with law enforcement and third-party partners to investigate and resolve the situation.
